I guess it’s because from the movie ‘P.S. I Love You’ I started to like Gerald Butler ^_^So of course when this movie came out, I went to watch it with Gin ASAP!
This movie also stars Katherine Heigl, she’s this morning new producer that’s about to be canceled. And to save the show, her boss hires Gerald Butler (Mike), oh by the way her name in the movie is Abby.
Anyways, Mike is a very cool and funny call-in host who promotes the ugly truth! (yep! It is indeed ugly!) for example; sex is the only glue in a relationship, men can’t change, they don’t really listen when we try to have deep conversation with them, and that they only respond to women’s look. (so so true. Lol) So here’s the funny thing, Mike was challenged how Abby don’t like him (coz it seems like all the women are crazy over him, right?) so when he knew that Abby likes her neighbor, he offered his help to make him notice her and in return, she will cooperate with him and make the show work. You can guess what had happened after, the ratings go up and eventually Colin noticed her, they started dating.
There were some scenes that are so funny and just so true! (And sweet).
Like for instance, when Mike was in the house with Abby and suddenly the neighbor came, asking her out, and when she closed the door, she was just so glad and so happy that she jumped, but she jumped in a funny and in a cute way (like jumped sideways! Like a bunny). And when he offered her that he will make Colin her bitch. Haha! I think that was hilarious! (don’t get me wrong, I know that it is not really good words, but what I meant was funny like-wise)And when Colin & Abby had their first date, when Colin kissed her and saw Mike’s face. This part, I don’t get it. I mean, in real life. Not only girls, (but I can say most guys) how come they can get so insensitive when it comes to feelings? They mostly know it when it is too late already.
Will it be too much pride?
Or just blinded by the friendship and can’t see (or don’t want to admit) the real thing? Ha! Hmm.. no idea!
And there’s more, after they danced and went in to their rooms separately but it was Mike who went to look for Abby again, I mean ‘guys do that?’ like, they worry too what to do next?? They get anxious if the girl likes them or not, or what had happened back there in the elevator? You know things like that. It made me think though. Anyways, some of the lines that were said in the movie were true, I can agree to that.

Like in the last part, when Abby was so fed up with these hosts (cause after Mike left, they hired a new one, who was of course not as good as Mike, and more jerk!) She just said that some men think they know what to do, but when it comes right down to that moment where they need to step up or make a move, they just chicken out. That “the big strong brave men, that we've all been reading about in novels and watching in movies since we've been nine years old, - -that's a fallacy. They don't exist. Men are not strong. Men are not brave. Men are afraid. Even if they have a moment in a hotel elevator and it's totally romantic and full of potential, men are incapable of copping to it because, why? Men are weak.”
And here’s Mike explaining about women; “Let me tell you something about women. Women would have us believe that they are the victims; that we break their hearts for sport. That's crap. They say they want romance, they say they want true love, but all they want is a check list. Is he perfect? Is he handsome? Is he a doctor? For you men who fit the criteria, don't kid yourselves. Cuz if they're not sleeping with you, they're sleeping with a carefully calculated set of venal choices. Money over substance, Looks over soul, polished over principles. No gesture, no matter how real or romantic will ever.
”WOW! I can agree to both sides, and the truth not only hurts, it is ugly too! But even though, I can still say ‘WATCH IT’! ^_^
