“2012”

Several had asked me if to watch this movie with them, but I declined them all. I thought that this movie was just kinda’ dumb, just like the movie title ‘2012’. (Who could have predicted that the world is REALLY going to end on the year 2012??) I mean, if we only know better, only GOD knows when. Anyways, I eventually ended up watching the movie with my friends and I must say I was really surprised how I ended up liking this movie!

The story started when an American geologist Adrian travels to India to meet his friend, who has discovered that neutrinos from a massive solar flare have penetrated the Earth and are causing the temperature of its core to increase rapidly. Adrian returns to Washington D.C. to inform someone at the White House (you can say someone who is in-charge of these stuffs) that they say and predicted that this will instigate a chain of events that will bring about the end of the world. Then story goes at the 36th G8 summit in 2010, other heads of state and heads of government are made aware of the situation. They collaborate to begin a secret project intended to ensure the continuity of human life, strategically choosing 400,000 people for admission on a series of gigantic arks to be constructed in the Himalayas. To help fund the venture, additional individuals are allowed to purchase tickets for one billion euros apiece. (Would you believe that??)

Anyways, it was when John Cusack came in and knew that something is going on, going wrong! It was when he took his two kids on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park, where they meet Charlie, a radio show host and conspiracy theorist. Charlie supports a theory that suggests the Mayans predicted the world would come to an end in 2012, and claims he has knowledge of the ark project and possesses a map of the arks' location. Cusack went suspicious when something happened overnight leading to cracks (just like earth crusts) and rents a private plane to rescue his family. It was when they started their escape, then how the families stick up together, not wanting to let go no matter what, it touched my heart how they hold on tight, not giving in to disappointments, but instead holding on even to that smallest part of hope that they have.

"Taipei MacKay Hospital 110709”

People getting sick are one of the very saddest things in life. Especially if you met someone as young as “Jun”, our church was invited to do a mini-concert at Taipei MacKay Hospital last Saturday. (oh men, I thought singing was relaxing, but think twice!) Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, it’s just that even Pastor works hard on this; actually I can say that he works the hardest. Whenever we practice with harmony, he has to listen to us intently one by one if we are singing the right tune. And when we were not, he would scoop down lower in our ears to whisper and sang out our tunes. (Imagine, there are six of us in all. And we were grouped by two’s. Sopranos / Altos / Melody) It may seem like we don’t even compete with a whole bunch of choir, but I can say that those choirs, they don’t have their own Pastor leading them personally.

Anyways, that’s the thing. After the concert, the admin who prepared the stage for us that day, asked Pastor if he can pray for this certain boy (Jun), and I was asked to go along to take photos just in case. I knew that the boy was diagnosed with cancer when he was only six months old, now he’s already two (or three) years old and still fighting the battle. At first it was only Pastor and Baiping who were allowed to go in for they cannot risk more people getting in the room; this is to prevent bacteria or germs from more people. But I happened to get the chance to go in because Pastor wanted me inside to take this baby’s photo. When I saw him my heart went for him. How can a boy, small as him have to go through this ordeal? He is such a cute little boy; he has cute and expressing eyes. I could have played with him if I can. But I know that God is at work. And sometimes our flesh eyes can’t see it, but in faith, we have to believe to the good things of His. And faith will bring miracles from Him!

"THIS IS IT”

I was so surprised when I heard the news of Michael Jackson’s death!! Not only did I see how it was broadcasted all over the news, but even on facebook, friends updated their status how sad they were about the news! Anyways, when they released the news of his upcoming concert (supposedly I mean), and that they were going to make it on screen. Ginette went online to buy the tickets asap! so I went to watch it with her and Jeff.

The film opens with a short text introduction stating the purpose of the footage and It reminded me of his songs before, that he did sing numbers of great songs. And it is just sad how music industry changes sometimes. (Because I can say that some changed for the better and some became worse!)

I so love the song ‘Man In The Mirror’. I did not regret watching this movie, it was a movie recommended, especially now that Michael died. These are the footage that can be seen him walking, singing, dancing, in other words, alive. Seen MJ for the very first time how he talks and works with his team, he seems to be soft-spoken always, he never seems to raise up his voice, and he was very patient. And he knows what he wants in his music, he was very clear how would he wants the sounds come up, high or low, too fast or too slow, too loud or too small.. u know those stuffs. And oh, there’s this cool girl guitarist (Orianthi Panagaris), she was really rocking the stage, she’s good! Thumbs up man! It’s been a long way for MJ, and I can’t believe he was only 50. He was still dancing and showing his moves! Dig that! Cool.. and the film ends with MJ with his arms extended on stage with the message: "Michael Jackson King of Pop Love Lives Forever
